Brasinola was born out of an idea to explore the funky, danceable sounds and rhythms of Brazil through the lens of New Orleans. Two places the bring vibes, culture, and depth to their music; places that are relatable but each with their own identity. This cross-cultural collective blends 2-3 Brazilian artists alongside New Orleans players shaped by the legacy of the city, and the result is something both fresh and rooted. The band focuses on 1970’s and 80’s Brazil, performing music by greats such as Djavan, Gilberto Gil, Tim Maia, Jorge Ben, just to name a few, while also including elements of inspiration from New Orleans legends like The Meters, Allen Toussaint, and Lee Dorsey.
The core of the band features Eduardo Tozzatto (Keys/Vocals), Danny Abel (Guitar), Ron Johnson (Bass), and Fernando Lima (Drums/Percussion), and they often include such musicians as Terence Higgins (Drums), Filipe Leite (Percussion), and Eric Bolivar (Drums) amongst many others.
